Welcome to the University of Arizona Corpus Research Lab

The University of Arizona Corpus Linguistics Research Lab is located in Modern Languages. In the Corpus Linguistics Research Lab, we investigate language using large, principled collections of texts, or corpora. Our mission is to further the use of corpus-based methods in the empirical linguistic analysis of spoken and written discourse in Second Language Studies, ESL, Linguistics, Rhetoric and Composition, Education, and beyond. In addition to conducting various research with corpora, we also provide access to corpora, as well as software tools such as AntConc, WordSmith Tools, and R. If you are a student interested in working with us, please contact the lab director, Shelley Staples (slstaples@email.arizona.edu).
