Teaching Reflection

  • 2017-07-20: Student Engagement
... explicitly mention my expectation of discussion result sharing in my future pair/group discussion activities. I want to see how will they react when I push them a little bit more.
... we can always give specific instructions for students and clearly explain the purpose of the video before they watch the video.

Teaching Feedback

Observation Letter from a Content Expert

MIS373 has a significant quantitative component. When presenting mathematical tools, Hongyi explained how those formulas were derived and illustrated their usefulness with numerical examples. He then gave students an opportunity to apply the methods themselves and discussed with them the results they got.

Observation Note from an OIA Professor

You ask each student to assume that they are the operation managers of a company and to learn about and process the course materials from that perspective. It allows the students to take on a role-specific perspective that helps with recognizing the application opportunities of the course content.

Observation Letter from a Peer

Overall, your lesson was very engaging and I felt that I learned quite a bit without having any background in MIS. You made effective use of all the class time and appeared to meet the learning objectives you had set in the beginning of the class. You also did a good job of keeping a positive demeanor throughout which is another way to keep your class engaged.
